Andrew Tiedt

Before setting up The Criminal Law Specialists, Andrew was a director of a national law firm, having spent his entire career working exclusively in criminal law. In 2020, Andrew decided that the time had come to set up his own practice.

Many firms include the term "specialist" in their name. Unlike most lawyers who throw that word around, Andrew is part of the select group of solicitors in New South Wales accredited by the Law Society as an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law. For us, "specialist" is not just a word. It is a statement about the quality of the legal services we are committed to providing to our clients.

Andrew has acted for thousands of clients who had been accused of criminal offences. These matters have included high profile, sensitive prosecutions, matters of significant personal significance, and complex matters where expert advice and advocacy made all the difference.

Over the years, Andrew has appeared in matters across the criminal legal spectrum. He has established a reputation as a fierce and skilled advocate for his clients, and is one of the few solicitors in New South Wales who appears in jury trials without counsel. Where counsel is required, Andrew has the connections and the experience to brief whomever is needed, and to put together the right legal team for you.

Perhaps just as importantly, we believe that it is crucial to be able to communicate with clients. We frequently hear complaints from clients that their lawyer did not explain something, did not listen to them, or that the lawyer was impossible to get hold of. We understand that clients who have been charged with a criminal offence need someone who will speak honestly and frankly with them, answer their questions, and give them the information they need to understand and deal with what is before them.
